dude u r right, u basically said what i was going to say, this design is a total makeover for Benz. and i think they did great and i am sure this car will be a BEST SELLER. for all the people who compare it to Asian designers (including Lexus) and others. make sure u drive the Benz first and u will know what i mean. u'll feel like a King behind the wheel, u will feel safe in every corner, in the Lexus yeah it looks good, but basically it's an overpriced Toyota with extra features

This car is stunning . Sadly the Japanese cars will never have the same allure.....they are so hideously ugly . Japanese automakers have to date only excelled at making economy small cars. Perhaps Toyota , ( parent of Lexus ) , Nissan , ( parent of Infinity ) and Honda ( parent of Acura) should stick to what they know best ! The European Honda Accord Saloon is a darned nice car and the Tourer version is good looking. They are much better looking than the latest Toyota Avensis,that looks terrible. I look forward to seeing this E Class out on the open road. I am a fan of Mercedes.

I saw this car in Dublin a couple of weeks ago. I was driving and a black new shape E Class past me by going the other way. From what I could see the front looked great in black. They had to modernise the back as well and I think they did a good job.

I think it looks more aggressive with the star in the grill instead of on the hood. Although , I think the S Class still looks better with it on the hood. Seems more classy with an S class ,

@cutitul I had a chance to drive one. Well, it's not mine so I'm not going to boast about, but still it is awesome. Actually I've driven it ferw times so far, so I still didn't have much chances to find its limits, although I rather drive slow so there isn't a big chance to do that. Well to be honest, I love its design, exterior, interior, only one thing bother me. And that's a lack of kind of pockets or trays in the interior. Like you want to put your glasses anywhere,...

Personally, I love the styling, something new for MB. This particular car (in tan) looks old fogey. I'd take one in black in a heartbeat! MB has had the same old same old designs for the last 15 years. Nothing to say, "lets get a Mercedes!", whereas now the tune changes to, "have we looked at Mercedes yet"?

I personally like the rear-end of the 2010 E-Class. It is unique again. In the last generation, the C, E, and S all had the same rear-end and brake lights. Mercedes once again has set the E-Class apart from the other two.

And there really is no point arguing who is better...Audi , BMW or Mercedes...they're all close to being perfect in every single way, they're all luxurious, comfortable, perfectly made engineering marvels...it just depends on what you want. BMW = sport , Mercedes = comfort, Audi = perfect balance between the two.

Some conflicting designs & a bit too many buttons. Overbearing silver trim around the a/c unit clashes with the rest of the matte treatment. Out of place. The squared off console-to-dash looks awfully dated - not understated, just dated. The rear head rests look like Darth Vader helmets, something I'd expect from a 1980s Japanese concept car. ...but most aren't very discerning when it comes to a Benz. They'll make themselves like whatever Merc designs because of it's status & reputation.

Its sad a lot of people are realling putting it down for its decreased profit margins. BWM is thankful its NOT a loss. Audi and BMW have maintained very strong sales of their respective A4 and 3series cars, sure 90% loss for 2008 is a lot, but at least the company is making profit - irregardless of where it came from, this being the case of leasings for BMW. Keep in mind, Audi is part of the VW Group, and that's an even financially stronger group. Exceeding BMW Group and Daimler by far!

@R774r By the way...HOW does the interior of this E class feel cheap and very plastic? If its made of highest quality leather, real aluminum, real wood, highest quality soft-touch plastic, real chrome, all that perfectly put together with amazing fit and finish...it feels so solid that you think you could throw a bomb into that interior and not a single thing would be damaged. The same goes for new C class, new CLS, SLS, S class, CL...and all others...

Wonder If you would ask someone on the street about the Maybach, If he would know such a thing.... or that case with Audi... Yes, it has Mercedes look just like new Mrcedes S the interior is like the older S, but it isnt Mercedes... it still is Maybach... Mercedes is the owner of it... just like GM is the owner of Opel, BMW is the owner of Mini... Tata is the owner of Jaguar etc.

Thats true, just like the Mercedes tweaked the interior of Maybach. But still BMW is the owner and not includes the Mini in its catalog fulled of BMWs So in the eyes of a regular consumer.... This car has a lovely quality interior. Mercedes is always best at understated elegance. The Germans tend to make cars quietly understated and not horribly showy and flashy like some makes. The E Class is always my favourite. I saw a beautiful shiny black one in Dublin today. It really looked lovely.

This is a fabulous car. Recently they had a report when they took an E Class apart after 60,000 miles. The car did the best of all they tested and they really praised the quality parts. The magazine is a very popular one in the UK.

MB couldn't do the same level of artistic interior because they lack the sense of direction. BMW's focus is clear on a flowing driver orientation that extends to its exterior lines, Audi is also clear on a modern design language though only more consistent in its recent years.. Mercedes is trying to shoot for too many things, and ended up aesthetically mediocre across all 3 areas: sportiness, comfort and elegance.

There are so many Merc taxis in EU because they are reliable and taxi owners get great discounts to keep buying them + quick and cheap service. If the rarity of a car model alone means exclusivity than the most exclusive cars in EU would be chinese cars :) All over the world, Japan included, the german luxury cars are prefered to british or japanese luxury. Especially in Japan ;) Think about it...

Your not tellin a fib. My grandma dropped 100k on a new s550 it was so sweet in profile and that stance on the amg wheels......until i got inside. It looked outdated and dull alot of empty space in the design heck my 79 fleetwood is more plush on the interior work

Dude. Beemer 3 series interiors are very dull. The 5 and up are ok, but you practically have to get in an M to get something "sophisticated." MB interiors have never and likely will never be Audi engaging, but neither are they missing a thing.
