hiya. I am trying to reset an ipad for a friends son as he put a password on it and forgot. I think the problem I have is because it is such an old ipad it needs a big update and keeps reseting every 15 minutes and popping out of recovery mode. If I reset it to recovery mode every 10mins with this still work? Been trying for days

Thanks I worked it out. I had to start downloading the update\software then once started unplug the ipad and wait for the update to download to my computer. Then I plugged it in holding the home key and updated reset the ipad and hey presto it worked. Because it times out after 15mins it was resetting the old settings with the passcode that was forgotten then upgrading that meaning I was still locked out. All sorted now, Cheers!

I don't remember exactly what they said, just call them and ask how you can reset it. If one way doesn't work, they will try another, it took a couple of different methods until one worked. +Anthony Ruff

Okay guys, I got mine fixed, I called up apple and they got me through it. It did involve resetting the iPad completely. Mine was jailbroken too so yeah...

if your iphone/ipad is stuck on the spinning circle or on the apple logo and it is jailbroken, the erase thing will NOT work! Do a Device Firmware Update by first connecting your device to your computer then open iTunes, then hold down the power button and home button for about 10 seconds or until the screen is black then let go the power button but still hold down the home button. Your iTunes will say it detects it in recovery mode.

If its been erasing for over 2 days then you can wait until the battery dies and then turn it back on. Or you can look at my 'what to do when your iphone crashes video, you can try that on your iPad, or you can take it to your nearest Apple store.

I would wait 24hrs. If its still not finished. Theres a problem with your iPad and you should take it to your closest Apple store. For me, it usually takes 2-5hrs. But it depends how big it is and how much you have on it.

However if you choose not to do the update, you can hold down the power and home button until the screen is black and let go so it reboots. then you can restore your jailbroken device from iTunes

You will have lost your jailbreak, but any legally downloaded apps can easily be re-synced from the last backup you made, from when you synced it with the computer.

After pressing next, when connected to a wifi network, it just goes past it. If you are having problems I recommend connecting it to a computer and running iTunes.

You'll have to re-store it by clicking the restore option in iTunes. It will erase all the content and your device and boot it up from scratch.

Yes, you can always restore your iPad from your previous backup, which should have happened automatically the last time you synced.

Hi I like the video u have made for ipad reset And it worked for My Ipad. But now I have different issue. 1.Turn off the ipad 2.Hold the sleep button for 3 sec. 3.Hold and keep HOME and SLEEP button at the same time for 10 sec. 4.Remove your finger from sleep button then you will see the itunes pop up.That's how you enter recovery mode then plug in your ipad in computer and run iTunes then hit restore.That's how your restore your ipad even if you have password.
