I bought a new laptop with win8 in it.After some days, win8.1 released so I tried to update it. I paused the download many times and then continued the download when I switched on the computer. It showed that it was installed but I didn't get any pop-up message of restarting or something. So I went to the store and saw "Upgrade to win 8.1". I clicked on it and then clicked download. but then it loaded and then displayed the message "All your apps are installed". I need some assistance.

Yes it does work on Windows 8 Pro. I have two things for you to try. The first being going to the store and searching for Windows 8.1 Pro Preview and installing it if it comes up. The second being reinstall the update. It is a possibility they it had to install another update before installing this update. Let me know if this doesn't fix your problem.

No. Actually I got it now. It wasn't downloaded fully. So, I tried it many times but it didn't come.but now, it cam. So, I followed the procedure and now I'm using Windows 8.1. So, thank you for your response :D .

This method works for Windows 8 and RT. The .msu update file is the same for RT, x86 and x64. On RT Devices you will install the RT 8.1 preview.

Are you signed into windows with a Microsoft account? Windows 8.1 requires this.
