there's not for a beginner, there's for an expert photoshop user
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
but yaa now, i love it so much, great job dude..
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S0Htp8LR13k/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAOw/Q90qLvrgw0c/photo.jpg?sz=64
Really like your video, has opened my eyes on better mapping. I noticed you use Gimp, I use photoshop, this sort of project could work with photoshop as well right?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mTBetKqkm0I/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/vhn1gvoMemU/photo.jpg?sz=64
+HazedShaman No idea, I'm afraid. There has to be a similar option in there though.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S0Htp8LR13k/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAOw/Q90qLvrgw0c/photo.jpg?sz=64
Yeah I've noticed, thats why I ask. Because turning a copied image into a preset brush makes the exact image but makes it in black and white verse how Gimp makes it the color the image was, as a brush preset. Do you per chance know how to do the same thing you showed but in Photoshop?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mTBetKqkm0I/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/vhn1gvoMemU/photo.jpg?sz=64
+HazedShaman Yup. GIMP and Photoshop have same principles, PS is just a bit more complicated.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-arvhTpHRZIA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/AbulrQn0Ijo/photo.jpg?sz=64
Question, if you're still active, where did you get your brushes, and how do you turn images into brushes so easy? I can save an image as a PNG or whatever files GIMP uses and get that stupid checkered background that you have to paint over... I know that's not it, though, cuz you just select that bad boy right off the sheet and get to work.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-arvhTpHRZIA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/AbulrQn0Ijo/photo.jpg?sz=64
+youknewmyname hmm... maybe i need a GIMP tutorial... lol but I'll figure out how to paste with a transparent background
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mTBetKqkm0I/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/vhn1gvoMemU/photo.jpg?sz=64
do the trees have a transparent background? Are they PNG images? If so, you need to paste them onto GIMP as a new layer before you cut+copy them as new brushes.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-arvhTpHRZIA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/AbulrQn0Ijo/photo.jpg?sz=64
Nah the regular brushes you used for like multi-coloring the grass I unserstand. I was talking about when you started planting trees and stuff, like i tried finding trees online and uploading them as brushes, but they still maintain the background instead of just being able to plop them down on the map like you did
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mTBetKqkm0I/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/vhn1gvoMemU/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Nicolas Palacios The brushes come with GIMP (at least the 2.8 version I'm using). I don't understand the rest of your question.

I'm so new to this RPG Maker, like really really new, I'm so new that even newbies are pros compare to me O.O Searches Youtube for RPG Maker tutorials i saw this and thought "Huh..? how convenient so awesome, he/her/hen, maybe will give me some great tips and talk me through how to begin and such, all psyched up".. Plays video:.. music playing.. no talk... hmm, maybe he will talk later on... don't want to skip forward, maybe i miss something.. later in:.. got mind blown on how beautiful it became, and decided right there and then, this is truly what i want to learn, with out even thinking of what I'm doing ^___^ Thank you very much for this truly amazing upload, you are really good according to me that is, and fuck what everyone else is saying, and maybe this is just average stuff for you... but for me it looks kind of pro. and i forgot to turn on the captions *faceplam*

+youknewmyname btw what issues will come up without the scripts and do you have any royality free resources for like the trees on the ground? i don't mind credit someone for his work aswell.

What in god's name is up with the pink X's? There's nothing like that in my version, which sucks because I was right along with you up to there.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Tyrel Froese go to your tilesets in 'Database' Outside_A1 has some blanks (at least for me it does) It has O, X and a star, click on the O to make it an X which creates it as a boundary, if you click it one more time it turns to a 'star' which allows you to walk behind an object (say, a tree)
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-cfSEyg9N1Oc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAG4/aQcAWL93sf0/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Tyrel Froese The pink X's are just what he's using to mark which sections he doesn't want to be passable. The yellow circles are to mark which sections the player should be able to walk on. They're just there for visual representation though. After marking the sections, he filled in the marked area with a transparent tile that matched the passability settings he set earlier. You can use any type of tile instead of the X's and O's he did since it won't show up in the finished map.

Can't wait to do this for 30 hours trying to make the perfect level that the player will only be in for ten seconds.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-n5QT_xDcmTk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADA/TZ8zh1TolGE/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Udo der Unförmige Gern geschehen.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-n5QT_xDcmTk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADA/TZ8zh1TolGE/photo.jpg?sz=64
Vielen Dank :D
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64

Mfg :))
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-e7BTYekiHUU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA4/2E8I4rbdSiQ/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+GaolisVideoLog Gern geschehen.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-e7BTYekiHUU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA4/2E8I4rbdSiQ/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Nefertari - RPG Maker Tutorials Danke, das war sehr hilfreich.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Si10IwI7MIo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADA/G6Euf1m47_k/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Si10IwI7MIo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADA/G6Euf1m47_k/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-U7wcl93-20E/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAGE/fCREUQF1pp4/photo.jpg?sz=64
Great Tutorial you really helped-me thx ((:
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Cássio Jhone Thanks. You're welcome. :)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-18izSOKRTHg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAs/Zs0zeTMX3Kk/photo.jpg?sz=64

RPG Maker VX Ace Video Tutorial EP20: Trying To Explain Switches!

In this episode i try to explain how switches work! you can also think of switches like this: when i turn on the light switch what happens does the light turn on or ...

Also, using the dungeon pit trap example, you could place a floor panel in the dungeon which controls whether the pit is open or not. 2 Event pages for the panel, pg1 in it's normal off setting, pg2 activated on PC touch. 2 Event pages for the trapped area as well, pg1 in it's normal off setting, pg2 activating the trapped area when panel switch is "on", thereby setting the trap. I think that's how it should work, if I'm understanding you right. Let me know. Thank again for these, man.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-iEC3lZguw6c/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/MD_6KgEWmU8/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey, you turned on my "LearnSwitch", man! Been watching the whole playlist to this point. Sometimes I get hung up on what you're trying to say. There's been some real LoL moments. But, all in all, excellent job. I'm getting a lot from these. Just watching these tutorials are bringing up ideas that I can use on my project. Thanks, man. Looking forward to watching your Let's Make An Open World RPG series, as well, so definitely subbed. Keep going!

lol looks like the event that runs when the switch is on is running on Autorun which makes the event loop until you brake the loops, so if you want an event to run in the back ground use parallel process, if you want the event to run something then stop, you need to make another page on the event and set conditions for it to turn to that page after the event runs.
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-gH3cCLQiLVc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/_ghEgjGOmYA/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Thanks for making tutorial about switches its cool but my switch that i made is something wrong @_@ when i trigger the switch so it will turn on but once i turned it on my game that i made started to hang my character cant move how to fix this?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-lQwcu2xXbJ8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/SbwnxTNM7x0/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
auto run will pause other events and run that event, while parallel will run the event along with the other events going on, and both of them will run as soon as the condition is met, if you set one. so they both run automatically.

Hey man, nice vids! Helped me a lot. I do have one question. Is it possible to change the looks of my main character during the game? Also, i wanted to add an option that, if i select a warrior class my char has a sprite of a warrior, but if i select monk class he will have different looks, a sprite of a monk. Is that possible? The short answer is that all of what you're asking about is indeed possible. You'd have to create all the graphics to represent the different classes for each character. VX Ace makes this easy with the character generator tool. As far as the in-game mechanics are concerned, there are a number of ways to do this, and I'll cover what I do in a later video.

I forgot to mention it last time. Those half-square things [ ] are called Brackets. People often call them Square Brackets to avoid any possibility of them being confused with Parentheses ( ) or Braces { } . Great tutorials! I've followed most of your previous stuff and am just learning how to do scripting myself. This should definitely help make the games I want to make. Keep it up! ^^
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-oUvHLUUYf6Q/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/_JmFm8-9Nik/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hmm with that script you could make a cursed weapon event fir example you get a weapen when you equip it you cant unequip it then you get told that you need to fill it with holy magic (by fighting i guess ) and after 100battles or more the curse is lifted the weapon gets weak bit you can trade it with someone for one of the best items in the game sounds good doesnt it?
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-G8jgFxk_V1U/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/DyFoeKYzDUA/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey! I love your videos! I do have a question and I'm hoping you can answer it. Do you have a video that talks about variables and switches? I am trying to make a game for where I work at, its going to involve lots of those, and I am not to pro on those. If you or anyone else could get back to me ASAP that would be awesome. Thanks again!
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-n3-jhX-eTSQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/3oyLVwGGmKw/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Often people just call all three of them brackets, so it gets confusing. I've heard them called Round Brackets or Regular Brackets ( ) Square Brackets [ ] Curly Brackets or Squiggly Brackets { } Call them whatever you want :p
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-Hcqtp8v3eoA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/mCWVSvaNq-k/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Oh!! I thought { and } were brackets lol, braces huh? Thanks! That actually helps me a lot lol, now I know what to call them! :P Was too lazy to google it xD
