If you are the seller of the option, you have unlimited loss potential when the stock goes up...because if the buyer of the option exercises his right to buy at 38 the seller must deliver the stock at that price. Meaning he must buy the stock at the higher price which will be a loss to him. Where did this guy get his information from?

So in TD ameritrade it will not let me sell puts because of buying power... any way around this? i dont understand why it allows a more risky strategy of buying a straddle but wont let me create an iron condor?? please answer thanks

You need to do that such that the maximum possible loss (optiom buying power) does not exceed your option sweep cash available. First long the put and then short it.. if you first short it wont allow you.

+Billy Jean You can hedge by buying a long put at a lower strike than your short put and collect the difference. If you first long the put it will allow you to short, provided that your maximum possible loss does not exceed your margin requirements

+Todd Michael I don't know what you did or are doing exactly since I am catching you mid trade. With options it is more difficult to understand the communication through something such as a youtube comment since there is limited information that is projected. Stick to your initial plan that you made before you took the trade.

+Khusan Malikov If you have no position - sell to OPEN would be you start a short position... (this would be -1 share or contract) ….Sell to close means you already have a position (+1) and you are selling to conclude the trade (CLOSE THE TRADE). This would put you back to equilibrium or even on your shares (0 shares/contracts).
