I came to check out the spider lift and love it :) I have a Nissan Silvia and Subaru Liberty wagon and both are lowered so slightly difficult getting them onto drive on ramps. The lift looks like it'd be awesome for my two cars. Great work on the instructional video too, after working on my own cars it's amazing how easy they are to work on once you start pulling parts off them

+Ash R Thans Ash. The Spiderlift is a handy bit of equipment. For your two cars it would be ideal. it's great you're having a go doing your own repairs and maintenance. A lot of it is not rocket science and is a logical step by step process. Regards, Scott

Hi Scott, I have a W204 2009 C200 Kompressor, yesterday it would'nt turn over, I contacted the dealer & they say it needs a new Ignition switch module ($3000 !!) have you had any experience with this & if so please can you post a video or advise fix. Thanks

+theBRITISHHAMbone Disconnect the battery for a couple of hours and see what happens after you reconnect.

+theBRITISHHAMbone $3000! That's probably 15% of the value of the car. I don't have any experience with the ignition switch module. However, if I was in that situation the first thing I'd do is find someone with DAS with Developer Mode and perform a control module reset on that item. Often a reset will fix the problem. The dealers have been locked out of developer mode so are unable to perform a simple reset. It's a great way for MB to gouge and sell over priced control modules when sometimes there's nothing wrong with them.If that doesn't fix it then I'd buy a used module off eBay/online from Germany or UK. The module is not that difficult to install however the coding would have to be done in DAS. Again if you find that independent repairer with DAS Developer Mode the coding can be copied from the existing unit. When I hear stories like this it makes me more determined. It's an outrage. I can see a time when an older well looked after vehicle will be sort after. As far as Mercedes go I would not buy anything younger than about 2011.

Very very good Scott. A couple of questions, more curious than anything, is it important to remove the left wheel carrier and slide the diff out to the left? And not right and then right? And question 2, are you going to keep making C series how to vids like this one? Because they're awesome :)
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Zz6KQiWZ21k/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAc4/8OckXGizyKE/photo.jpg?sz=64
Gosh I'm very humbled ... thanks Dave. Yes I'll keep making them as things come up that need doing. I've made quite a few on the W639 Vito and CBR600RR as well. I've done all the learning for you for when you get your C Class. There's videos on the main service items like brake fluid change, auto service, oil & filter change etc.The Mercedes WIS (Workshop Information System) says to tackle the left side. The only reason I can see is there are more electrical cables on the right side to disconnect. The right side has the wires for the brake pad wear sensors but they don't have them on the left. It may also have something to do with the shape of the rear diff cover as it's not symmetrical.

welds only a non certified welder can make. Jesus Christ that is horrible.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5RZXH9VQWQg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAOw/WwlQBydPsK8/photo.jpg?sz=64
+mgpBLARG dude. Relax. Nobody came here to learn how to weld.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-EI4GKKEV2YM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA-c/nnC641RN0JM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+mgpBLARG It's the process of what needs to be done, not specifically the how-to of welding.Notice how I didn't go over any welding techniques? Have you read the other comments from people giving tips on welding?I know this isn't for you and you're not impressed, so I'm sorry you wasted your time watching the video.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Vlr8EGLG4GI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAC8/rZVe2Os4Nzs/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Travis T if you can't weld, you shouldnt make a tutorial on how to weld.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-EI4GKKEV2YM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA-c/nnC641RN0JM/photo.jpg?sz=64
Yep, I know. I never claimed to be certified, and everyone had to start somewhere.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
what type of weld would you suggest?
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5RZXH9VQWQg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAOw/WwlQBydPsK8/photo.jpg?sz=64
+mgpBLARG m8, what is with you and welds. chill.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Vlr8EGLG4GI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAC8/rZVe2Os4Nzs/photo.jpg?sz=64
you look at that horrible mess and ask for advice?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
a suggestion if you do this DO NOT WELD THE CENTER PIN, if you weld to the pin you will NOT be able to remove you axles if ever needed without using a cutting torch inside the diff
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+UntouchableDriver87 wow. im not sure what happened there, was trying to reply to maurice

+DSMattitude Erm... I never stated it was... ?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+John Doe you can weld the center pin nd still get the axles out if it is a non C-clip axle. subarus are not c-clip typle axles.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Andre Makela lol C'mon, don't you know that every vehicle is the same? ;) ~sarcasm~Some people can't just say "Hey, thanks for the tip!" Even if there is a bit of misinformation, it's YouTube. Not a Chilton Manual. lol So, if you're super-concerned about being vehicle-specific; I'd recommend looking up videos on that vehicle, or perhaps researching that vehicle's parts in specific. Otherwise, you get the basic idea of what's involved in the process of welding a differential. Good video man! Thanks for the how-to!
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j7ZZpxuqGH8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/D7-ysDr9lzY/photo.jpg?sz=64
then you can weld the center pin if you want
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Andre Makela erm, c clips? if your working on a crapmaro perhaps, but Japanese diffs wont have c clips
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j7ZZpxuqGH8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/D7-ysDr9lzY/photo.jpg?sz=64
depends if you have C clips on the inside of the axle shafts to hold them in.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-EI4GKKEV2YM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAA-c/nnC641RN0JM/photo.jpg?sz=64
Wait, what? Then how did I remove my axles after the first differential failed?Sorry bud, but please have correct information before you give advice.

I was rebooting the axles from my 300D and I thought I would show that assembling a CV joint without magnets or another person is really not that bad.
