Just wondering, why just get headers and connect it to your factory exhaust? It seems like an entire exhaust system would be the way to go.

I am heard on many forums that say that headers will damage your engine. is that true? and if so, how and what can i modify to avoid that?

+alejandro guevara its a v6, I suggest just leaving it stock since you wont gain any performance. My first truck I had was a 04 Silverado 4.3L that I added exhaust/CAI to and I hated it. Got that nasty v6 trickle/sound and it only sounded good at idle but once you gassed it, what a joke. Sold that truck 4 months later and picked up an 04 6.0 SS Silverado, added LT headers, cat back exhaust and CAI, what a beast. Deep true v8 sound. Unlike my old v6. If you want loud just take off ur cats and put a flowmaster super 44. But i will warn you, Idle sounds beast (everyone thought it was a v8 at idle) but drive is shit and kind of embarrassing lol. good luck.

+Martin Corleone Step one in the Chevy dealer repair manual is always "Verify the problem." Check the codes. Do what you can to increase the odds that the O2 is the problem. If the sensors are OK then it may be running lean (or rich) because of the increased air flow and sensor position. Try running a bottle of GOOD fuel injector through the tank. There could be other problems that were slight before the exhaust swap. If all the parts, injectors and computer are good then you may need to take it to a shop that can program the ECM with the new exhaust set up.
