Thank you very much. I was able to understand how it is possible to specify a different disk drive as recommended by Oracle for the database data files.

I got a small problem.I get the message: "You have specified a non-empty directory to install this product. It is recommended to specify either an empty or a non-existent directory. You may, however, choose to ignore this message if the directory contains Operating System generated files or subdirectories like 'lost+found'."

you got that message because you must be reinstalling the software.so just delete the folder in which you installed the software earlier or simply give the path for another folder

Nice video! However, after installation, when i run "Select * from v$database;", I get an error - ORA-00942: table or view does not exist. On the other hand, the other 2 queries - "select * from global_name" and "select * from v$version" work fine. Any idea on what the problem might be?

+Daniel Cortes he is using CentOS, an enterprise linux distribution, like RedHat. He has a video where he showed how to install CentOS inside a VM. To find a tutorial on the Windows installation process, search for: "windows oracle database installation".

I had some trouble installing, want to share the solution to help someone who runs into this. With the used combo of OS and DB (6.6 OS, 11.2 DB), "oracle-xe configure" failed with message "ORA-01034: ORACLE not available" in the install log. Turns out the automatic VMWARE install adds only localhost to the hosts file. Adding the given machine name and IP address to /etc/hosts fixed the issue.
