How am I supposed to test a resonant knock sensor in an 04 silverado truck
when the intake has to be removed to get to the knock sensors? I understand
many vehicles such as toyotas also have their sensors in the intake valley.
My truck will not start without connection to the air filter box, much less
while removing intake/throttlebody/etc.

+drwombat That's the case for most vehicles today and built within the last 20 years. All you need to do is TAP at the ECM/PCM wiring harness knock sensor wire. You need a Scope or Graphing Meter to see the waveform. Let me know if that helps out.

This video does not say how to fix a knock sensor, but how to test one.
Unless I missed something while watching. I guess I'm just going to replace
my knock sensors with new ones.
