@doghot45horse And if you are wondering why I bother saying this, it is because I am sick of people shoving their religion in my face, asking me why, as an atheist, I celebrate christmas, i am sick of all the death due to religious extremism, the spread of AIDS due to the pope, the hindrance of education and science due to creationism, the persecution of homosexuals, I could go on. If anyone should be in an angrly mob, it should be atheists due to all the damage theists have caused this world.

@mrwho995 Actually, Christmas is our version of Hanukkah. Which is not a pagan holiday. And technically, if they haven't lost anything from it, Christmas isn't "stealing." Christmas is simply to celebrate the birth of a savior. Hence "Christ's Mass." Now, I don't want to offend you, and I don't want to argue with you. But please, keep Christmas in your own way. I appreciate you sharing your beliefs, but this video discussion is a Christian one and you may spark a flame war. Nobody wants that.

@Dan00bindahouse the bit about the tree is rather easy to find, and on websites about that you can usually find something about mistletoe too. As for the virgin birth, youtube doesn't do links, but in google type in 'virgin birth other religions' and the third result, rational wiki (hardly unbiased or very reliable, granted, but you can follow the references), go to similarity to other religions and you will find that a virgin birth is in Assyrian and Babylonian and mythology to name a few.

@doghot45horse One of the many reasons that I don't like religion. They murder people for telling the truth. As for the date, yes, the date does matter to the same extent that you wouldn't want to be celebrating your birthday three months early (most bible scholars predict Jesus was born in september). The whole idea of a virgin birth is stolen from paganism too, that all Christianity is really, bits from different religions mixed together. Birthdays and halloween are pagan too BTW,

@Dan00bindahouse I however do not want to offend you. I hope have a problem with religion, as I beleive it does more bad than good (I won't go into it), I don't have a problem with the religious. So I apologise for offending you, but what I said is the truth. I will also apologise for offending you by calling these people delusional, but you should realise that that is what everyone outside of your religion thinks of you as being. @Dan00bindahouse I have to say I am surprised at your open mindedness on the matter. I will not do the same with regards to exploring my atheism, as I have already done so, to an extent, and my lack of religion obviously has far less of an impact on my life than your religion on yours. As for where I got my facts from, I have to be honest and say I have no idea. They are just facts that I have remembered.

@Dan00bindahouse Sorry, but you are wrong. Christians stole the whole holiday from the pagan's winter solsitice. Christmas tree? Pagan! Mistetoe? Pagan! Even the idea of a virgin birth has come from other religions. If Jesus existed, nobody knows when (it doesn't say where in the bible). It was given that date to ease the christianisation of the pagans. It doesn't have anything to do with Judaism.

This was a large public performance with multiple groups working together, not a flash mob. It has to start small with a growing number of people joining in. It also must be far too complex for just strangers to join in. It must look spontaneous but clearly planned and rehearsed. It is also difficult in this video to see exactly who is singing. Beautiful, for sure, well done, but not a flash mob.

The point that I have now successfully demonstrated is that you are getting pissed off by my 'reason for the season', so I would appreciate it if you would stop preaching yours, especially seeing as the entire season is based on paganism.

December 25th as a date is meaningless to us, that date was just chosen to supplant the pagan holiday, not to supplement it. I agree whole-heartedly with the last comment. A pleasant performance, verly likely fun to be a part of, AND in no way a flash mob. The performance art aspect is absent which is a defining adspect of flash mob experiences.
