I wasn't sure if there was a floor indicator inside the elevators since there were outside plus hearing the chime. I like how Otis did these elevators.

+ElevatorMan5482 ElevExperiencing Productions I think automatic doors were usually used for new installations in 1942. But in 1942, elevators with scissor gates were probably still common in buildings built in circa 1920s and earlier.

In 1942 gates were very common in elevators! It wasn't until the 50s that automatic doors became the industry standard

first time I was here was in 1992. it was closed off then. these elevators carry office workers to their offices

This is a Schindler elevator. There is no doubt in my mind. That is Schindler's exclusive arrow for the elevator. Also, it has the notorious non-functional door-close AND it only shows the arrow when the elevator is in motion, which is obviously a Schindler controller. By the way, those are Innovation Bruiser buttons.

If I could have a 13 story hydraulic elevator I would actually put cushions as the walls and I would attach comfy couches and make it go 50 ft/min so people can sleep being annoyed by the hydraulics on their journey up to the top floor.

This lift goes up to a rooftop restaurant. the rest of the building is a regular motel.

I wish they would take those goofy sings down. It just ruins the veiw and the look of the building from the outside.
