lol, you do not add up your gpu memory to your system memory... the gpu is a standalone expansion pci card to your system, with its own standalone memory for the 3d rendering. the whole game itself beside the 3d visuals is running off your SYSTEM memory. the PS4 will have a onboard system memory of 8gb AMD GPU was designed in a way that it will use the onboard RAM for 3d rendering (like intel "HD" graphics chips found in select intel CPU's) meaning, there will be far less than 8gb left for games

Consoles are not PURELY for gaming, from the arrival of the current gen consoles, consoles have an operating system, that operating system eats up ram... specially the PS3's XMB which eats half a gig of ram... the next gen consoles which will feature even more features will most likely eat up even more ram... if you are talking about the previous gen consoles, the PS2 and the GameCube were Pure Game Consoles, so their memory was used on the games themselves only. PS. 4 tabs on chrome are nothing

many horrible games sell in millions or also sell at some point and still gather out a good profit and the thing people get in return from buying those horrible games would be they would waste their time on it and not realize they just got ripped off but then again their just random groups that will keep playing that certain game that they have bought and waste their time on it when they will barely ever realize or come to a state where their game is actually not worth it and cod is another one

You are evidently an uninformed fanboy who has no grasp of technology. Firstly, the 720 is rumoured to have either a hex or an octo core, which would definitely be supported in 720 titles. Do you have any idea how absurd hex cores are when they are supported? It will also most likely use a high value GPU like a 560ti or something along those lines. Also, fret not, companies understand their demographics, and unfortunately, most gamers are cheap assholes like you, so it'll be about £250-299.

Actually no. Im not a fanboy. I might not be following the rumors of the 720 that closely so there might be a couple RUMORED details i dont know about. And considerng im a rookie develepor i think i know a little something about technology. 1st off it would NOT be priced around that price range if it has a hexa or ESPECIALLY an octo core. 2nd for that same reason i get the feeling its not going to HAVE a hexa core. I've built about six or so PCs using Hex and the processors ranged from about £90-130 pounds. Given that the GPU will cost about 80, and it's running a cheap memory module with a custom mobo the price point is completely reasonable. You have no idea what you're talking about, so stop making a fool out of yourself.

it's all about data bandwidth the more data bandwidth you have overall in everything the better the game play will be and the smoother it will be and the engine won't feel cheap but it will feel richer and in depth , the funny thing is if you look at 2006 graphics and now we are in 2012 and people still yell OH THIS GAME LOOKS AWESOME THE GRAPHICS LOOKS GOOD , no it's just generic graphics made to make funny and for idiots to actually just buy those since they are easily impressed by them

8 gigs of ram for a console isn't a overkill... and 4 gigs of ram is enough? are you fucking retarded? depending on your OS and Background running softwares/services you are left with 1.5-2gb of ram free. (maybe a little bit more if you're on win8) 1.5-2gb of ram IS NOT ENOUGH FOR ANYTHING. in the consoles department, BECAUSE consoles have their own OS, the consoles are designed to use the least RAM space at all times, with no background services/softwares at all. so 8gb ram is PERFECT.

It all depends on if they'll allow you to have apps open and games. The ps1 and gamecube had a operating system, just saying. I agree that 8 gigs is good, i was just saying that it isn't required for gaming, that is all. I also brought up a point that the system and video memory are all in one. If you don't believe me look it up. As of right now, video cards hold video memory. I have 2gigs of gddr5 video memory and 4gigs system. So technically (not including cache) i have 6 gigs.

Assuming it is still compatible with your motherboard. You also have to think about your power supply, CPU, ram, and cooling. What if the newer card draws more power or you need more ram to run games smoothly? It’s not as simple as buying a new graphics card every 3 years. I spent about 1100 dollars building my pc from scratch, which is now 3 yrs old, and I am not about to spend another 300-500 on it. I would rather just build a new system with all new and updated components.

well they are sorry that they dont put 32Gb ddr3 in the console so you can run a game at 30fps because that is the refresh rate of your tv...... and its not like you are gonna be having youtube, twitter, facebook ect running while you are playing a game. and they wont be putting in sony vegas or after effects so you cant use a xbox to edit a video so that 24Gb of ram is just being wasted lying there, so really 8Gb is plenty for a console

Lies. Consoles are purely for gaming, meaning there aren't many programs running in the background. Also, the system ram and video ram are all in one with the nextgen consoles. So that 8 gigs is video memory and system memory. I run 4gigs on my system and i can have 4tabs open in chrome with vegas running and still run games without bottlenecking. So don't go around calling people retarded when you don't have your facts straight.

I dont have financial issues. i DO have money, but im not stupid with it. -__- Thats why i have the ps3. Its lasted me quite a while so far and im hoping it last me for some more time. Which also goes into why we dont need new consoles yet. And i cant speak for anyone else, but i dont smoke so i dont buy cigarettes. I dont go on 500 dollar shopping sprees either. I mean think about it. If companys were to reveil these new systems exacly WHAT would they do besides have more memory and MABE proccessers a little bit more powerful. A little anyway. well actually thats not technically true not a fan boy but PS has been at the gaming business then xbox and both have different things that are better xbox have better internet connectivity and security the PlayStation has better console exclusives and Graphics cause while xbox focuses on software PlayStation focuses on hard wear the to things the companies were born on

True. However i'm not getting a 720 in Year 1 because of the possible issues with hardware. Not trying to add gasoline on to the fire but the Xbox's have came with serious hardware issues in the past. If nothing is reported within half the year then I will get one. That depends if the PS4 has been released by then.

Get a job, save up and buy it. That is what i'm doing. Also, they will not release it before next year because they would have wanted to show it off at E3 since it is one of the bigger conferences in the world. They would have built more hype about it by now showing off trailers and the new games.

Probably has a better cpu and gpu. Almost all laptops have a gimped gpu and cpu to keep them cooler. 32 gb of ram is useless unless it's a workstation. You can check out my channel for pc gameplay that shows 8 gigs can run bf3 and other games. Which are much more intensive then Ruse.

u are a young gamer..that much is obvious. tell me do you know how api's like dx11 work? how about graphics engines? take a look at the 360's beginning. compare oblivion to skyrim. if we take your side on this then 90% of the games on 360 shouldn't be possible because the 360's hardware does NOT approach the appropriate amount of features needed for something like halo 4..yet huh..that's funny..developers could still make it. so if it's so easy for developers to do that on 6 yr. old tech (cont.)

then how is not possible for developers to do something like UE4 and agni demo on even something as outdated as 360 and ps3? tech DOES play a factor but you don't need dx11 and two gpu's to pull off tessellations and a modern lighting scheme. fact is wiiu IS nextgen it's kind of impossible for it to be anything but next gen even in the slightest sense because of how old 360 and ps3 are and if developers can make things even HALF as decent as the agni demo on wiiu and 720 then rockez09 is right.

I don't buy the "last console generation" idea. Too many problems with cloud gaming and too many uses for more powerful hardware (3D displays, higher resolutions, etc). I don't see many compelling reasons to buy anything other than a Wii U this time around. 720 and PS4 aren't going to be significantly more powerful than the Wii U, and Kinect 2 and Move just aren't as compelling as the Wii U controller, in my opinion. Of course, what matters most is developers creating compelling software.

Yeah, Sony and Microsoft learned a hard lesson with the ultra expensive console experiment. The first 5 years or so of sales on hardware was a total loss (that's 5 years of profit that could have been generated by less-powerful hardware). Also, dev kits come in hardware form AND PC equivalents. Even if this kit is legit, the hardware isn't representative of the final Nextbox hardware, just the hardware required to emulate an approximation (which is why the specs are so high).

I like the combination personally. I really like the look of Metro since I use a Windows Phone, and I like that Windows 8 will be cross platform with it's mobile devices. Also, it is plainly obvious the reason for doing this is because the world is becoming more "touch" oriented. Touchscreen monitors will be cheaper and use capacative, then TVs will be touchscreen, then commercial stores will use it, slowly but surely the world will be more touch oriented.

well I'm happy with 360 I don't rally care how the graphics look but I have to say that PC graphics really impress me when I always buy PC games for the single player story when I want to play with friend I buy it on Xbox or when developers like Rockstar don't make a PC version the single player on the 360 is good to nut I enjoy it more on the PC.Microsoft has to make a new Xbox now 9GB of disk space don't give developers what they want

Well, Sony fanboys in particular, are already shouting things like ''The PS4 will have a resolution up to 4K.'' and all sorts of non-sense. It's just that people expect a large jump, like N64 to GameCube, or PS2 to PS3, they aren't used to not so big leaps. I'm hoping that we'll get to photo realistic graphics in about 2 or 3 gens and this non-sense about graphics stops. And besides, the art style is far more important, don't you think?

Honestly, I think it's fair to say that the current systems are fine. It's just that when all this new technology came out, for some reason a lot of people just started caring about how powerful their game system is, rather than how good their games are. I mean I don't remember the stuff that is going on now, happening when we made the transition from Gamecube to Wii, PS2 to PS3, and Xbox to Xbox 360. It's all happening this generation.

I'm not saying the current systems are bad, they are fine, but the 7th Generation itself is a problem for me. When people started talking about graphics more, and how people started saying "if it doesn't have guns & blood & doesn't look good, its a crap game" it became bothersome. FPS's are fine, but I like other genres of games. And graphics aren't everything, Mario Galaxy runs at 480p and is still an amazing game.

The Marketplace does not really matter anyway since if you have the full OS it will barley even be visited. Also, come one, the task bar? That is the biggest problem you have with it other than the marketplace? One of my biggest problem is just that both versions of the OS (touch and aero) is too jumbled. You never know which app takes you where, that is it. I can not really give two shits about the task bar.

Fine, maybe what I said was an overstatement, but still, this generation was pretty awful. People seem to forget why video game's even exist. They don't exist so you can brag about graphic's or exclusives, or how many cores this console has. They exist so we can enjoy ourselves and have fun. But all people care about now is graphics, hardware, etc. This generation has sucked the life out of gaming.

Plus, they're pushing Kinect hard, hard enough to include Kinect 2 in every box (and they'll need it to compete with Nintendo's controller). Just another reason why the hardware isn't going to be that powerful. Holding on to their share of the gaming market and expanding into the wider casual market is more important than chasing tech specs.

The Wii U is able to run games at Native 1080p at 60 fps. (The "fps" part is still being debated though). That's enough to label it as next-gen. It's funny how gamers like you are expecting a huge leap in graphics next-generation. It isn't going to happen. Graphics are, lets just say, at their peak.

Talking about how technology has advanced means nothing... It's what Nintendo chooses to use that makes the difference. They've never been about power, they've always been about affordability and enjoyability. It just doesn't come up to par with the with the 360 or PS3's graphics capabilities.

To be honest. I've never heard or seen "Angi's Philosophy." Graphics over Gameplay is not my cup of tea. But holy cr-. The thought of such visuals and quality running at real-time leaves your jaw dropped. But I wouldn't consider it "That" big of a jump. Still a pretty big one though.

Of course, Nintendo needs to work on its user interface and the non-gaming experience that the other consoles provide could be a compelling selling point, but the Wii U will still probably be best for games. Microsoft doesn't really seem to know what to do with Kinect.

Im not even close to done with my current gen. xbox console. I will probably wait 2 years once the Xbox 720 comes out and buy it when it gets a price drop. I just hope Its backwards compadable and my 360 harddrive data can somehow be sent into the 720.

It's an alpha kit and it's legit. Just look up the Xbox1 Alpha I or Alpha II. Even the alpha of the 360 was put in an Apple G5 case. Specs seem legit too, but probably not final, but little will change.
