https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q0rkZLjD3lk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/3xslZziO5tM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Nick Scooch , This is common issue. Are you using a adapter to connect , if yes is it genuine Apple adapter or after market product ?

Hi AVME, i have the mac connected to an HDMI amplifier (onkyo sr606) then to projector and the mac cannot detect the projector (but I want the 7.1 sound) what is the fix to make it work?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q0rkZLjD3lk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/3xslZziO5tM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Scott Herford The mac will not see the projector at all , the 2nd display in the mac display settings will be shown as onkyo sr606. Here is the signal flow for your setup assuming your projector has HDMI input port/s. Make sure from your onkyo menu settings you have selected your video output as hdmi. Also from the projector input or source selector make sure you have selected the correct hdmi input . What is the make and model of your projector ?1: Mac display port output to hdmi input on onkyo sr606.2: Hdmi output from onkyo to hdmi input on your projector if it supports it .3: You will only get pure 7.1 surround sound from your onkyo if you have connected 7 speakers & one sub woofer to the speaker output ports on onkyo & calibrated them correctly according to your room acoustics and size , also the movie your are playing should be mastered in 7.1 audio .
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q0rkZLjD3lk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/3xslZziO5tM/photo.jpg?sz=64
If you are doing everything as described in video then it should connect. Try troubleshooting as follow. 1: Try a different Hdmi port on TV/monitor & a different Hdmi cable. 2: Try restarting your mac , make sure you disconnect the display port to hdmi adapter & reconnect only once mac loads completely in OSX. 3: Make sure you are using genuine display port to Hdmi or display port to VGA adapter.

+Tony Villalpando Sound is not output through the video port on the back of the iMac. You'll need run a stereo cable from the headphone output of the iMac to the TV (or to your receiver).

Many mac have an optical audio output in the headphone jack. Check your model.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Max S that depends entirely on what audio out ports you have on your computer and what audio input ports you have on your receiver or television. Probably going to use a 3.5mm stereo cable (standard earphone plugs).
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+pippindvm what cords do you need for that
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+SaZooCaballero No, it doesn't. You'll need to run separate cables for audio.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-A8_huMBmv3s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAATs/rvwrhr8n-nM/photo.jpg?sz=64
is there anyway to get sound as well? do I need another adapter?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sZlXPlVYpxo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAKU/IZNQ4cWyYik/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Jessica Barnard your older macbook does not connect sound this way.  You have to use a stereo mini to RCA adapter, and then run RCA cables to the audio input of your TV.

Espero me podáis ayudar.

Gracias.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PQLK0S6AG44/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACA/CyGWNhsO1Xo/photo.jpg?sz=64

I bought a similar device. It works when I mirror my iPhone and Android phone. Mac mirroring did not work originally. But later I figured out a way to make it works: 1. Use browser to connect to its IP address i.e. 192.168.49.1 2. Click on the first icon on the left, then click Scan. 3. Enter you AP password to connect to your AP. The dongle should have connected and saved this configuration (i.e. memorize it has connected to that AP before). 4. Connect your Mac to the AP. This was the step I missed originally - I connected my iMac to the dongle's IP address instead of AP. 5. Now select display mirroring on Mac, to that dongle. Hope this helps.
