If you are going to use this for gaming, I would use 16GB of ram, other than that it will work

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with this motherboard. My old power supply's 8 pin connector isn't compatible with this mobo. If anyone can tell me what PS they're using with this board that works would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

+Muhamad Hazim Actually got that problem solved already. The mobo shipped with bent pins in the 8 pin power supply slot. Now it boots, but it won't post. I'm sending this piece of shit back.

+Martin Vranovsky We don't use the stock cooler, but the one you see in the video. To be honest, it's not even a "that great" cooler we are using and it's just sitting on the CPU .. so not even screwed in or nowhere near properly mounted ...And yes, stable enough to complete the run. We didn't do 24h stability test.

Great video, man! Quick and simple just like it should be. The percentage graphs were nice as well. Usually it's a 7-minute uninformative video of some guy pointing a shaky cellphone at a blurry monitor, constantly saying "I don't know if you can see this"

+DoctorPepper4 When VSync is enabled and the frame rate drops below the monitor's refresh rate, the frame rate fluctuates wildly, causing visible stuttering. When VSync is disabled in-game, screen tearing is observed when the frame rate exceeds the refresh rate of the display (120 frames per second on a 60Hz display, for example).

if you can choose between asus z170a and asrock extreme 4 for gaming and same oc that you do it in this video and running that pc every day monday to friday non stop. which one you choose? thx
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+SuperMario5289 The 12k caps do not contribute to the OCability of a motherboard. The Asus Z170A has a slightly better power delivery system than the Asrock Extreme 4 though both can handle a reasonable OC quite well.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+SuperMario5289 Neither, go for the asus z170 pro gaming(ignore the silly name), same price as the asus z170a or pay about 50 dollars more (depending on where you live) and buy the asus z170 maximus VIII ranger, which will give you better overclocking and a better onboard sound card, both the z170a and extreme 4 got less than optimal sound cards, the asus pro gaming got okay sound. You should actually always buy an external sound card because the ones coming with the motherboard are actually crap, but buying from the asus rog z170 maximus series kinda lets you get away with using the onboard sound. If you never used an external sound card and always used the onboard one you might be thinking to yourself its not such a big deal and you can't really hear the onboard sound card your using now being bad, but trust me once you had a external sound card or an decent onboard one, you will hear the difference and you wont be going back.

I wasnt joking. Im confused! So what is the purpose of the 12k platinum chips? And if you could choose any z170 motherboard for purely overclocking which one would you choose and why?

+mimin nimim every single day Id choose the Asus
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YNqY0WJzpn8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/eVgeczpaYO8/photo.jpg?sz=64
If you could choose between a i7 5820k oced or skylake 6700k oced purely for gaming only and you were running 980ti sli, which would you choose?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YNqY0WJzpn8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA8/eVgeczpaYO8/photo.jpg?sz=64
glad to hear it, I just bought a 5820k and oc'd it @ 4.3
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Between the 5820k and 6700k most sites show them equal that use 4 cores, literally only a few sites show the 6700k giving a small fps advantage, 6 cores will be better in everything else.

At the moment it seems that skylake with its architecture (z170) has some issues with SLI, as gpu utilisation is pretty low in some games when compared to haswell/ivy setups. I experienced it myself with witcher 3 and some other games when played in 3d Vision. I hope that this constitutes a driver issue as opposed to something serious.
