I understand your concern, my ooma hob goes down from time to time also. It just happened to me today. It appears that our ISP's are "packet shaping" as a way to get more costumers. They will purposely dedicate more bandwidth to certain "channels" to have the loss of packets show no service on your device. Although highly illegal, they claim that they are "possibly working on their services" to provide better service to their customers. Hang in there, Ooma will come back on line 5-15 mins.

this is the second time this has happened to me. the first time it was out for a month and then up and started again. Now I'm going on a week. Have tried 4 new cables and powering off and on etc. Last time they had me push two lights until something blinked but I can't remember which ones....I can't call cuz I'm in south America!

When this happens to me, about every 4 to 6 months, I reset my router and poof! Its like magic and Ooma Telo is happy again with the pretty blue flower.

My ooma is up and running again here in Chicago; came back on around 10:00am CT. Hope you're back up, too.

Ooma Telo handset charger FAIL

The charging base for my handset is defective. Complaining about it in the Ooma forums just wasn't getting the point across. Let's see if we can get their attention ...

That's pretty much it with these things. Look at my channel and look for my fix (takes about 10 minutes.)

@sunriseDB1 What is your purpose? Do you actually need 100% uptime on your phone line at any cost? If so, don't you think other people are capable of assessing that on their own? Most VOIP users adequately comprehend the cost/benefit trade offs and willing accept that considering most of us have cell phones as backup. If you don't have a cell phone, and cannot tolerate any outage, you should consider spending that extra $500/yr for the dedicated landline.

I'm 1 year into my Ooma use and, though I usually advocate strongly for them, days like this make me shop around for an alternative. If, at least, incoming callers could still go to voicemail, it would be acceptable, but as of now anyone calling in is just getting a fast busy signal. I work from home and can't work with this. Someone here is saying "your ISP goes down at least once a year too" that may be true but my landline phone did not.

I believe this to be untrue. We live in a 4 year old building in NYC, with 300+ apartments. Those of us who had landlines were the only people with working phone service when Sandy knocked out lower Manhattan power. For the duration of the outage, we had phone service (though no electric, heat, or water above the 5th floor), because we had real, traditional hardwired landlines. Not DSL, Not VOIP.

Their website does not need to be up for the service to work. I checked and their name servers are functional, and their public IP is at least responding to pings although I doubt that is the actual web server host itself. My guess is there are having a critical core infrastructure failure that is taking everything out. I think they are about to learn a good lesson in reliability.

My ooma Telo and handset has the exact same problems as you listed in your video. I am in Maryland and using FIOS high speed internet and having no problems with my internet. I have rebooted everything several times and nothing. Ooma support line opens at 10am Eastern time. (888) 711-6662 I will post a video shortly as well.

@scottlindner Critical core infrastructure is a mighty nice way to say one or more of their servers may have crashed. If calls could be forwarded then I wouldn't have bothered putting up this video. It's 10 o'clock now, and I bet their lines are off the hook. Especially if they use their own service. lol

What's funny about this is that I posted in the forums yesterday about how their handset is cheap junk. I love VoIP and their concept is a good one. Ooma is a young company so I'm trying to give them some elbow room. Hopefully they will work this out sooner rather than later.

@sites Considering all previous outtages have affected VOIP only and not their web servers or forums, and considering their DNS servers and public IP are up (core switch is OK?), and everything else is dead, I am suspecting something with their SAN has failed.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-ePJ8YmGH9DU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/R_bCwwjztos/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
I tried calling Customer Service at 888-711-6662 and they are not open yet. I tried calling the number their domain name is registered under 650-566-6620 and no one answered. It is probably too early considering they are on the West Coast.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-ePJ8YmGH9DU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/R_bCwwjztos/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
There are so many things that go into service failure of any kind that it is nearly impossible to understand why the sample of people you spoke to did or did not have service. The likely cause was power outage in your apartments.

Can't log into my.ooma or browse their forums now. I sent this video to them and emailed about the "We're sorry, there was a problem processing the page." error. Wonder how long this will take to be resolved... :\

They typically have a service outtage once a year for no more than 24 hours. Your typical ISP has worse reliability than that so I wouldn't get too worked up. I will post back when I reach Customer Service.

I am in California and have the same problem, tried to disconnect and still blinking RED. ooma site down. Can't connect to to the Ooma website. What gives... Glad I kept my ATT phone account.

@sunriseDB1 As for your landline phone, unless you are in an extremely rural area, it too will suffer from outages and you just never noticed since it uses DSL just like DSL ISP.
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-Jouf5Tujufg/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/iCn6TwuxuQI/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
@sites The handset is not worth it, but the base unit (compatible with any landline phones you already own) and the service, has been very good for me up until today's outage.
