This is the clearest tutorial for this I've found so far, yet I'm still having problems. Before when I tried to convert a video with subtitles it would only save the audio even when I word for word followed those steps and no matter what file type I saved it as. It would only open as the audio with a black screen. NOW when I do it with the newest version of VLC, it instantly says the program is not responding when I hit save, closes, and STILL downloads me a file that's only audio. D: confused!

I wanted to convert something because I really wanted to try out movie maker like I used to in our old computer. My VLC crashed just when I converted and when I tried to open the file it said it was corrupted and my hard work went down the drain so I tried an online converter to convert mkv to avi. it worked so then I opened it on movie maker, and my audio hell bagan.... Every time I try to use audio out of anything there's a terrifying sound instead. Have no idea how to fix ;_;

I have a mac, and the process is super easy to use. I have been struggling for years to find a simple effective solution for shrinking my videos for upload, that my wimpy 2009 dual core macbook could handle. My friend had suggested to use VLC, I thought he was joking, but it is great! To hell with Compressor and Adobe! I just need to figure out now how to add the x264 codec to the conversion options. I have read that this is the best in many reviews.

Here's my problem. I have got a movie in five VOB files and subtitles in 4 IFO files. I add them along with the VOB files. But when I press 'save' it says that the subtitle files could not be found or encoded. How can I make it work? I just need to convert all this crazy stuff into one AVI file so that I can normally watch my movie.

For FPS, 24 is great if you want a movie feeling to it, 30 and higher, then it will look smoother and less motion blur, but also fake for how realistic it looks. Example is when you watch a soap opera or sports on a hd tv. Plus the higher the fps the bigger the file. so if you have 40 fps, that means it doubled the frames.

you need dvd fab it will copy any movie from a dvd or convert them it has many functions also you can try it free it's pretty cheap to buy and it's constantly updated free a one time purchace..also they have a free one called hd dycrypter on their sire

The instructions here were very helpful, but for some reason, i can rotate the video and i can convert the video but I cant do both. I keep rotating the video and then going through all the steps and the video still ends up upside down. Help please!

I did everything and thanks but when I hit start, the VLC media player crashes and just dissapears and when I go to the file I want to convert it to, it is there but has no actual stuff on it so its useless like it says 0 kb

hello! Can I play vob files with VLC? It doesn't seem to work on vlc when playing the vob files though. It doesn't play a one continuous movie, instead, it plays each separate file...

IMPORTANT: ensure that you do not have 'loop all', 'loop one' play options. Otherwise VLC will repeat the conversion process ! I experienced this :(

when I open VLC, there is no "media" tab at the top. Just, in this order; File, View, Settings, Audio, Video, Navigation, Settings. Any advice?

the movie that you select double click it and a window that says something like "properties of title 1" will pop up, select audio tracks, then on the right side it will say edit, click it and then another window will pop up that says "audio track source" on the bottom left it will say "ignore audio delay for this track" make sure u check the box then click accept in both windows. after that continue the process like shown in the video above. and u'll be golden

Try doing 8x speed instead of 6x speed it will wright faster and wont give any errors
