why are you using only a third of the screen? This makes it hard to get the context of what you are doing.

pretty sure the "custom" blue tips on the exhaust is just the titanium being heat anodized from the engine heat.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Cory Nelson Mmmm yeah probably, i didn't think it through very well. I'm purely a knife guy so i don't know much about cars and i guess the exhaust wouldn't be hot enough to do the anodizing. Guess you learn something new everyday.

It needs to be something much hotter than engine exhaust. Typically you use a blowtorch.

What are the loudest Slip-Ons for a 2013 1200 Custom Sportster?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-da7mz-LWTbs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAE_w/kH7sxcpMJ8c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+tony galioto Most slip-ons with removable baffles will be quite loud. I'd recommend the Straightshots and Twin Slash, both from Vance & Hines. -DrewZilla*//www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-straightshots-hs-slip-on-mufflers-for-harley-sportster-2004-2013*//www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-3-round-twin-slash-slip-on-mufflers-for-harley-sportster-2004-2013

+Revzilla, +ZLA Lemmy Thanks for an awesome comparison guys! I just bought my first Harley last month and looking to get the quintessential Harley sound. The dealership recommended a new set of mufflers and stage 1 kit upgrade. Should I go for it or as you suggest +Lemmy, just go for a nice set of mufflers (I'm leaning towards V&H shortshorts ( //www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-shortshots-staggered-exhaust-for-harley-sportster-2014-2016) and a fuel controller? Pls advise.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-da7mz-LWTbs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAE_w/kH7sxcpMJ8c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Devender Narang I'd say start with the Shortshots and a fuel controller (such as the FuelPak FP3). If you decide to add an air cleaner later on, you can always use the FP3's auto tune feature to re-tune the engine. -DrewZilla*//www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/vance-hines-fuelpak-fp3-autotuner-for-harley-2011-2016

Great video! I used to work at a Harley dealer and was always lead to believe that RevZilla was mainly for metrics, I have been very impressed with you guys' support for HD P&A. Also Lemmy, are you a Vet?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R-8IfjbNGfQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/IWtdEGcD6Ow/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Josh T They still manage to hold up well. I don't love them for riding, but they are fairly waterproof. Better tools for the job, but for a general purpose boot they work pretty well, and they can be had for short money.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
that explains it, my deserts were bellevilles, I still wear them when i ride in fact. the shifter is hell on the suede.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R-8IfjbNGfQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/IWtdEGcD6Ow/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Josh T I wore Bellevilles in a few videos. They're not my go-to boots, but I have a few sets of them on the shelf. My cousin is Army and my baby brother is a Marine, but I am not military. I'm 114% American, though, so pretty obviously I tend to love all you guys.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
yes, I noticed your boots while doing the sound tests, they appeared to be standard issue army desert combat boots.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R-8IfjbNGfQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/IWtdEGcD6Ow/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Josh T Thanks — the whole Video crew at ZLA works pretty hard to make these videos worthwhile. I don't really think we're "just for metrics." I think we might have grown in popularity more slowly on the domestic side of the house, but ultimately, we've put a ton of effort into making sure we have the parts, the smarts, and the heart to do the bar-and-shield crowd justice. We've got a few lifelong HD freaks within our walls making that happen. (And some INCREDIBLE beardage. Check this guy out; he has been riding since Moses was a small boy: //www.revzilla.com/joe-c-geek-bio)I am not a vet. Are you?

Is there any difference in sound between the v&h slip on straight shot vs the v&h slip on slash cut? Or is purely cosmetic
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-da7mz-LWTbs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAE_w/kH7sxcpMJ8c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Eddie Martinez You would likely notice the difference in sound. -DrewZilla
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+RevZilla so slight you won't notice? Or is it noticeable to the naked ear so to speak
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-da7mz-LWTbs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAE_w/kH7sxcpMJ8c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Eddie Martinez The Straightshots Slip-Ons have a slightly smaller 2.5" diameter than the 3" Twin-Slash Slip-Ons, so the 3" Twin-Slash pipes have a slightly deeper tone. They're very similar though. -DrewZilla

RevZilla & Lemmy thanks for the awesome Sporty comparison. The drive-by portions are exactly what real world sounds are, the engine under load and what the bike sounds like at distance. Living in a downtown scene provides lots of noise ord.'s that prevent me from getting an exhaust system. Would you happen to have measured the dB levels by any chance? I'm lost between S&S Power Tune and the Cobra Slip-On mufflers. Which is louder?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R-8IfjbNGfQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/IWtdEGcD6Ow/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Chuck Ruck I'm a huge sucker for Straight Shots. I have an old set of V&H Hi-Los (no longer made... jeez, I'm gettin' old, but they're like Straight Shots with a bigger space between them, hence the name.) on a chopper I have. I love those things. That skinny straight-pipe look is hard to beat. That said, the Cobras were a very easy install, and Cobra is really reinventing themselves right now, making some innovative products and changes to stay relevant with the marketplace. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Wow, very impressed by the detail of the response.  Informative and insightful!  I was looking at the V&H with the quiet baffle as an option but didn't know how quiet they would be.  I saw the exhaust comparison video, it's the video I am responding to.  And to clarify, I was talking about the S&S Power Tune slip-on muffler, not the full system.  I don't have to short shift now but I figured if I did go the route of a full system, I would have a less than thrilling commute to downtown and back.  I look at power of a vehicle like a glass of water on a table.  The more power you wring out of the engine, the closer to the edge, and more likely for a fall or failure.  Being that my Sportster is my daily commute, I want to keep it running as failure free as much as possible.  So slip-ons are probably about as much as I feel comfortable with pushing the power envelope.  So now my first two choices of muffler have turned to a different two.  This was the wrong rabbit hole to go down I suppose. V&H, & Cobra. Leaning towards the Cobra, but the looks of the V&H Straight Shots remind me of my Dad's `78 FLH Shovelhead.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R-8IfjbNGfQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/IWtdEGcD6Ow/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Chuck Ruck The thanks all goes to RevZilla — ZLA puts a lot of resources into really advancing the rider experience, and bike reviews are definitely a big part of that. I'm lucky to have the opportunity. We don't measure dB's. That's actually a pretty scientific process that can vary a lot in terms of accuracy and repeatability. Generally speaking, full systems are louder than slip-ons by a bit. Kudos to you for being cognizant of your neighbors. That said, the Cobra Slip-Ons will probably be a touch quieter than a full Power Tune setup.I'd recommend looking at some V&H products because they offer their "quiet baffles". There are even some third-party sources making even quieter baffles for V&H products. (Smartpartz comes to mind.) I personally don't have tons of experience with them, but I know they've been a good solution for those who want aftermarket tone but stock-ish noise levels. As far as the "depth" of the tone, it's pretty subjective. Allow me to plug our Exhaust Sound Comparison video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgb73secnLQ Personally, I find the Cobras to be pretty dang rumbly, but I also have not installed a Power Tune full system yet.Packing a muffler is necessary based upon how the manufacturer has chosen to muffle the muffler, so to speak. Packed mufflers can often be quieter, because the fiberglass packing material often allows more spaces for the exhaust to travel and more muffling material. Other exhausts that don't require repacking often utilize "louver-core" baffles with no packing material. These are all-metal baffles with perforations cut into them. They contain no material, hence the reason they don't need to be repacked. Often, though, they are on the loud side, because of that very lack of packing material.I've had good luck loosely packing mufflers (it's a very easy process!), even ones not originally intended to be packed. Packing them tight counterintuitively makes them pretty loud - the spaces between the fibers are too tightly wrapped for the exhaust to be effectively muffled. So, to finish off this tome I have written: The best noise-control device is your right hand. If you're leaving early in the morning, roll the bike to somewhere as unobtrusive as possible. (I've lived in cities too. I know that can be a long chunk of pushing, but hey, you gotta keep the peace.) When you're blitzing through a downtown area with lots of echo-y buildings, keep your fist out of the throttle, and don't spin the engine up in too low a gear. Short shifting and approaching the throttle gingerly goes a long way. I have a few straight-piped bikes that can be reasonably well-mannered if I do my part to help them not be obnoxious.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Deeper, not louder. Additionally do either mufflers need to be repacked? I have heard of certain mufflers needing to be repacked after "X" miles.

Fuck the old V6's Mustang. Completely disgraceful cars. Ford is pathetic for that awful engine. I should know. I had one, and while I did supercharge it...boy after all these years I realized what a waste of time that was. Piece of shit car.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+white sugar be realistic here, come up with on reason that makes the engine anything more than mediocre. There isn't one.

+MrCarsandGuns I'm aware the V6 was just a cruiser, but seriously...190 HP? What the fuck was Ford thinking to have these V6's get even roasted by 4th gen Accord V6's? It was a disgrace! And it was even worse with the outdated 4.0. The 3.8 engine is probably one of the worst engines I've ever seen Ford wise.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
it certainly wasn't any great muscle car by any means, but it wasn't supposed to be either. The v6 was just a cruiser. that being said you can make power out of them if you want to.

would you say getting 4.10 gears without an LSD is still worth it?
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ASxr33TcyLA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAw/vl3JjZfFy2Q/photo.jpg?sz=64
No man get a lsd
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+MrCarsandGuns thanks! And I really wanna do the gears, driveshaft, and LSD at the same time, but I can't afford both the ds and lsd as a student so I might just wait until later in life to do stuff like that lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Terry Wallace that is definitely true. without a limited slip you would only be able to do one wheel burnouts. I had a lsd in my v6 (one in video) with 4.10 gearing. I would recommend 373, they are a good combination between power and streetablility. beware, it'll through off your speedometer though. there are remedies to correct this, but something to keep in mind.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+MrCarsandGuns ok thanks. I'll Prolly look into 3.73s then. I ask about the diff Cuz I hear that without it the quicker acceleration just gives 1 wheel burnouts or something
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
I don't know how the change in differential affects gearing, I have a lsd in my gt. if your taking it on the street regularly I'd stay away from the 4.10s they aren't practical for a street car.
