the whole mixed class thing is miserable. when you're a white belt....and purple belts are crushing you everyday its so demoralizing its hard to learn and grow.

+ChamorruWarrior Exactly. Getting smashed actually builds character. It humbles you and that is the whole philosophy of martial arts, to lose the ego. Now if those purple belts that crush you every day NEVER stop and point things out or the instructors never explain what you need to do to counter those attacks that 'smash' you, then that is not a good school. It's like the old saying or cliche from the Gracies says, "there's no losing. You either win, or you learn.

+Mark Shields I disagree, if those purple belts are just murdering all the white belts and being dicks about it, sure. But the best way to get better at something is to get DESTROYED at it by people who are way better than you. You don't get better by winning all the time, you get better by being defeated.
