German it's "machen"), "be", "have"(which is rather pretty general) , "do".Lots of slavic languages contain English loanwords and permanent Latin or Greek words.Even if English had borrowed 90% of foreign vocabulary it would still work on Germanic system, cause English originated in Skandinavia (Today's Denmark).
