The Mercedes E-class has long been the German company's most important model, so it's no surprise that it has pulled out all the stops for the latest version.

Mercedes wont supply press cars without it. I actually prefer a mix of traditional dials with a screen in between

Yes I agree there is no point in the S Class anymore it's a shame for people who want it as the E Class is similar and half the price

WHY does the UK only get diesel models? its so annoying they should sell petrol too
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3nsxL1z7AT4/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABY/MAWCoIeUtLQ/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Komor Uddinah man that sucks lol im more of a petrol type of guy i dont do enough miles to buy a diesel
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-eFw5OPzp4ig/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABU/_soXoMjt3Lw/photo.jpg?sz=64
Its a trend with all the manufacturers nowadays, the only fast petrol version of these type of cars are the AMG models. At least BMW still offer non M powerful petrol engines but I'm sure they will stop this in the UK too. Im guessing they just dont sell well in RHD..

They are not popular that's why

When will the European get away from Diesel engine? They sound raw and disgusting. Should just make petrol engine.

+Karl Lao The golf is equipped with turbo, hence they use less petrol when driving normal... standard cars with out a turbo use more petrol. It isn't irresponsible, you don't breath in diesel everywhere you go mate, so don't make stuff up! Petrol is harmful to, not just diesel. Wow, you know nothing about cars do you. Manufacturers are actually using diesel engines more and more now because more economical and you don't need to fill up as much, plus the life span of a diesel engine is longer then a petrol engine. My BMW X5 has 4 diesel variants and only 1 petrol variant. So, diesel engines are being produced more and more now. Hyundai are following suit, so are other companies. Your precious VW are too following suit, although they used a device to cheat the system and paid for it, but they are still pumping out diesel engines, in almost every car you can get a diesel variant in the VW range.

+Luca Natoli I've been driving a Golf TSI MK 6 1.4 petrol and getting 5.6l/ 100km. I don't know how you been driving but that's the numbers. How can you say don't stand there not breathing it in? That's just irresponsible. So if anyone who doesn't like the smell should just not go outside and live a life? It's scientifically proven diesel does more environmental damage than petrol so that's why many car manufacturers are beginning to move away from diesel

+Karl Lao so what about what it pumps out. Diesel is used everywhere. In trains, farming equipment etc etc. They not going to change that anytime soon. Don't stand there breathing it in if you have problems... and what cars have you been driving? Diesel does perfrom better then petrol, I get 4.2 litres per 100 km in diesel where as petrol is 10.2l per 100 km in my other car. So unless you actually own a modern diesel car, don't stand there saying they are the same. And like I said, modern diesel engines don't have that horrible sound anymore that the old diesel engines had. They also burn a lot cleaner then the old engines too.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--SsJwNIwoU8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAABD8/NwAyz18MDVs/photo.jpg?sz=64
Diesels are producing nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which irritates the lungs of people with breathing problems. Diesels make several times more NO2 than petrol cars. Diesel doesn't only sound bad but also tend to damage the environment more. If you are judging this base solely on economic terms, most petrol and diesel performs the same, therefore in real term, diesel isn't significantly better than petrol. And still, they sound horrible.

Diesel fuel is the most economical in terms of bang for your buck. Here, in Australia diesel is the best option, as you get more km's per tank, lasts longer, so less fueling up on long journeys. Our country so open and so much travel to go interstate, diesel is recommended over petrol. Petrol if you are just doing city trips, like to the shops everyday. Plus, they have (Not Merc) advanced the engines a tad more so they don't sound like an old train, until you hit about 200,000 km's, then it sounds like a train.

Because no one wants petrol engines and we aren't making decisions of what car to buy in the engine note as if you have even owned a car like this you can't hear the rattle from the Diesel engine

looking at old technology is fun. thank you Tesla :)

+hyylo I could say the same to you buddy! What have you created in life besides a bad attitude, huh?? Just as I thought, nothing.Love to see how long your so called advanced Tesla batteries last for, 2 years, 3 years, 4 max. Watch, you'll see. Then comes the bill for replacement battery packs, hope you have deep pockets. And as I said, not that advanced, 100% batteries have been used to power vechiles long before Tesla came. There are tractors and motorbikes running on batteries only, and that started over 10 years ago. So, not new, not advanced.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-JznqxpMr4Cs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACo/ZQnYUfZsd1w/photo.jpg?sz=64
'Tesla are not that advanced' hahahawhat have you created in your life?
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-bTPAzjVCH7s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAANM/4IajbRYfEmc/photo.jpg?sz=64
Tesla are not that advanced, or that posh to begin with, they also have the standard basic interiors . Strapping several batteries and a tab to the middle of the dash does not make it advanced. Mind you, the Tesla UI and Auto Pilot system is still in BETA stage. The milage distance is meh at best on a full charge, when they advanced the batteries to do more then 1000 miles on a full charge, then I will be very impressed. Now I for one hate Merc cars, they are overpriced garbage. Tesla seem to be making the right move bringing the Model 3 at a great and decent price. I will save my judgement on the Model 3, when it rolls into dealerships.
